Traveler Information: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Status

Thank you for your ongoing support. We have some important updates for you regarding the proactive steps AMResorts® continues to take to ensure guest satisfaction.

On January 12, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test to all air passengers entering the United States. This requirement will go into effect on January 26, 2021. As you may be aware, a similar requirement is already in place for travelers returning to the U.K., Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia.

AMRESORTS® PROACTIVE SUPPORT & BEYOND

AMResorts® is proud to expand the already comprehensive CleanComplete Verification™ program with the introduction of CleanComplete+. As part of CleanComplete+, we are pleased to announce the inclusion of COVID-19 viral antigen testing on-property at no cost to guests traveling to the U.S., as accepted per CDC U.S. travel regulations beginning on January 26, 2021. Test results will be received the same day in a format consistent with CDC requirements. Guests should contact the concierge at each resort upon arrival to schedule departure testing. A minimum 3-nights is required to qualify.

On-site property testing will be administered by Hospiten, an international private hospital network committed to providing a first-rate health care service for travelers, across the majority of our destinations. The viral antigen test, as required by the CDC, is not yet available in Costa Rica or Saint Martin, however resorts will facilitate the required PCR testing at an off-site location with an additional cost to the guest.

For guests traveling to countries that do not accept the antigen test and require PCR testing, concierges at each resort will help coordinate and facilitate testing with off-property, third-party providers listed here.

If a guest receives a positive test while on property that prevents departure, the cost of quarantine at the property will be covered for up to 14 days. Extended stay due to quarantine includes the guest plus one travel companion sharing the same room. This policy is valid for travel through March 31, 2021.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CDC TESTING REQUIREMENTS

According to the CDC, air passengers entering the U.S. will be required to present documentation of a negative COVID-19 viral test (called a Qualifying Test) conducted within the 3 days before their flight to the U.S. departs.

  • Documentation should be for a viral test (NAAT or antigen) as approved or authorized by the relevant national authority.
  • Test results must state: Negative, SARS-CoV2 RNA Not Detected, SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Not Detected, or COVID-19 Not Detected. Invalid will not be accepted.
  • Documentation may be paper or electronic copy and must include the name and contact information for the laboratory or healthcare personnel who performed the test.
  • Test results may be required to be shown again upon landing.

Alternatively, passengers may provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 with documentation of test results conducted during the 3 months preceding the flight’s departure from a foreign country.

  • Test results must state: Positive, SARS-CoV2 RNA Detected, SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Detected, or COVID-19 Detected. Invalid will not be accepted.
  • Additionally, a letter from a licensed health professional stating that the passenger has been cleared for travel (called Documentation of Recovery) is required.

Finally, all airline passengers will be required to present a simple CDC attestation form to the airline for collection prior to boarding. The CDC attestation form can be found here for reference.

ENHANCED RETENTION PROGRAMS

For guests wishing to make adjustments to existing reservations, AMResorts® is happy to extend the previously announced Move the Date, Keep the Rate + a free night policy. This will apply for reservations booked through February 28, 2021 for travel completed by April 30, 2021. Additional details regarding this policy can be found here.

ENHANCED POLICIES

“MOVE THE DATE, KEEP THE RATE” PROGRAM, + A FREE NIGHT

For guests wishing to make adjustments to existing reservations, we are happy to extend our previously announced Move the Date, Keep the Rate + a free night policy through February 28, 2021 for travel through April 30, 2021. Guests may change the date of their current booking to a future travel date, up to a year from the original booking date, with no additional fee or cancellation penalty. In addition, when rebooking for a future travel date, AMResorts® will extend one additional night complimentary to all vacationers.


  • Guests also have the option to change to another AMResorts® property within the same brand in a different destination with no additional fee or cancellation penalty; the additional free night also applies in these cases.
  • If the rate is lower on the new travel date, the client will be refunded the rate differential.
  • If the client wishes to change brands, they would be responsible for any price increases.
  • This policy is not valid for travel dates December 23 – December 31, 2021.

“Move the Date, Keep the Rate” Program, + a FREE night is not be combinable with any other free night promotions or free nights earned previously using this program.

 

SOCIAL GROUPS – “MOVE THE DATE, KEEP THE RATE + A FREE NIGHT”

  • Groups up to 39 rooms:
    • If the group wishes to change the date of their existing booking to a future travel date between now and April 30, 2021, they may do so at the same rate based on room availability for up to one year from original booking date.
    • Additionally, groups may also relocate to another AMResorts® property within the same brand, in a different destination for the same rate, based on availability.
    • If the rate is lower on the new travel date, the client will be refunded the rate differential; alternatively, if the client wishes to change brands, they would be responsible for any price increases.
  • Groups of 40 rooms or more:
    • If the group wishes to change their date, they may do so at the same resort for up to one year from the original travel date.
    • If the rate is lower on the new travel date, the group will be refunded the rate differential; alternatively, if the rate is higher, the group will be subject to a maximum 5% rate increase for the new dates.
  • Changes in group size - if the group has guests that will no longer be able to travel, we will allow those guests to independently rebook their travel. These rooms will no longer count towards any earned group amenities and the group amenities will be recalculated based on the new group size.

(Note: For all social groups, the Free Night must be confirmed and meet contracted attrition policies)

Social Groups Deposit & Payment Policy

  • Full balance will be due 30 days prior to group arrival.
  • Any deposits or payments already received will be applied toward the future date.
  • If the group is relocating to another hotel in a different destination, the deposit is transferable to the new hotel.

Cancellation Penalties

AMResorts® cancellation penalty will be 24 hours for FIT bookings, and 72 hours for social groups for travel until December 22, 2021.

Travel Credit

If you are unable to move your booking at this time, please contact our call center to obtain your credit towards a future booking.

Early Departures

In the event a guest must return home quickly due to a “no travel restriction” being implemented by their country of residence, AMResorts® will allow early departures with no penalty.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

*Please note that policies and practices are subject to change and may vary based on alignment with relevant in-country government or health authority requirements. All guests travel and stay at the resort at their own risk. Guests are required to follow Check In protocol and requirements, if they do not do so, they will not be allowed to Check In and will be escorted from the resort.

All expenses associated with transport to off-site medical facilities, treatment and testing at those facilities, and on-property quarantine are borne by the guest. Guests will not incur costs for examination by an in-house doctor, but fees will apply for on-site testing.
